The March 2015 Corporate Venture Connection Issue

Today, we’ve published the third issue of The Connection! We have a terrific issue for you. Leading off, we have an in-depth interview with Arvind Sodhani, Intel Corporate Executive Vice President and President Intel Capital. Arvind responds to a wide range of questions from Declan Denahan, Managing Director of BNY Mellon’s Strategic Growth Initiatives Team and the end result is a very interesting and insightful read.

Shellie Davis, Senior Manager of Mergers and Acquisitions at Coca-Cola chatted with Constance Freedman, Managing Director at Second Century Ventures, the strategic investment arm of the National Association of Realtors®, who discusses her founding role in the unique technology accelerator Reach. NVCA’s John Taylor and Jessica Straus deliver a thoughtful analysis on the 2014 corporate venturing data.

I had an opportunity to catch up with CVG Education Committee Chairman, Matt McElhattan, Venture Principal at Chevron Venture Capital, who describes all that is going on with the Education Committee. In addition, we have our usual features focused on the latest corporate venture events.

Finally, the NVCA website and Member Portal has a whole new design entering 2015. In the coming issues, we will continue to highlight links to interesting information on the website. Did you know that corporate venture capital firms hold two seats on the NVCA Board of Directors? Claudia Fan Munce from IBM and Sue Siegel from GE are both on the Board of Directors. In addition, NVCA publishes latest Corporate Venture Investment Data on their Corporate Venture Research Page.

For NVCA members, a treasure trove of useful information can be found in the Member Portal, including access to the Corporate Venture Peer Group and upcoming events. There, you can sign up to join NVCA’s upcoming CVC Coffee Pot discussion on March 27 on the pros and cons of startup governance roles.

And, in conclusion, please continue to let us know about any job openings in your firm. Thanks for reading and please let us know any feedback that you may have.

Best,

Reese Schroeder, Managing Director, Motorola Solutions Venture Capital
