Welcome to the first issue of The Connection for 2016! We really have a terrific issue this month with articles from several new contributors.
This month’s focus is on Healthcare and Life Sciences and I am delighted to have articles from two of the top corporate venture capital groups in that space – Baxalta and Merck. Our sincere thanks to Geeta Vemuri, Bill Taranto and David Stevenson for sharing their perspectives.
From the financial venture side, we have a great article from Bruce Booth of Atlas Venture who analyzes the data behind the positive impact of corporate equity investing in biotech over the past decade.
Andrew Romans, author of the upcoming book Masters of Corporate Venture Capital shares some of his learnings from interviewing 50 CVC practitioners and also discusses a new collaborative model being used by his firm, Rubicon Ventures, to develop relationships with the CVC community. Shellie Davis and Tom Hawkins have also contributed a piece sharing their perspectives on how CVCs and traditional VCs can work better together.
Finally, we have the 2015 corporate venturing healthcare data from Global Corporate Venturing Analytics, a report from Global Corporate Venturing’s Corporate Venturing and Innovation Summit held at the end of January in Sonoma. I think you will find lots of articles of interest in this issue.
